Fantastic Sams Complaint

Down here for the summer, and I needed the dead ends cut off of my hair badly. The Fantastic Sams in Greensburg, PA has always done well with my cuts and waxes, so I thought another Fantastic Sam's would do the same. I called before going to see if I would be able to cut my hair and wax my eyebrows, and I was told that would be fine. I went in and the stylist at the desk asked, "Can I help you?" like they had just closed or something. I told her I had called and she said that there was no one available to wax my eyebrows and if I still wanted a cut. I said sure. So I signed in and then she tells me that she has an appointment coming in ten minutes so I would have to wait unless I didn't mind a man styling my hair. I asked if he was good and she assured me that he was.
After some waiting. This man who looked to be about 70 with long dirty fingernails(which I didn't notice at first) came out and asked how much I wanted to cut off. I said I wanted the dead ends cut off. He said okay and that he would also put in some long layers, which I was all for.
He didn't say one word to me while he washed my hair and then when I got to the chair he didn't say anything until he had combed it (which was very painful) and cut off a piece of hair. It was about three inches long. I said that was a good length to cut off. My hair was at my last rib when I came in, so very long, which is the way I wanted to keep it, so three inches was perfect. By the time he was done cutting, three inches had turned into about six. I said that was enough and he moved onto the layers. These layers look very choppy and very short, not the long layers like he had said. He then blowdried it half way and then opened a drawer full of brushes that were COVERED in hair! It was very very unsanitary.
When I was getting checked out, he said that I had to pay for the long length and layers which was an extra dollar per inch. I refused to pay that because he had not told me about it and he had cut my hair shorter than I had wanted. I was charged just the base price for a cut instead and was treated rudely until the transaction was finished.
While this whole experience was awful, I am most concerned about the unsanitary conditions at the salon. These need to be addressed.
